Booking and Pickup

How do I book a service with FitFix in Nairobi?

Send two photos of your item to WhatsApp 0705 728 896, one of the whole item and one close up of the area that needs work, along with your location in Nairobi. David replies with a firm price, a turnaround and a free pickup window. No deposit, no inspection fee, pay on delivery by M-Pesa, cash or bank transfer. If you would rather call, the same number reaches us by voice.

Do you offer free pickup and delivery in Nairobi?

Yes. Pickup and delivery is completely free across the Nairobi ring, including Westlands, Karen, Kilimani, Lavington, Kileleshwa, Parklands, Riverside, Langata, South B, South C, Embakasi, Kasarani, Ruiru, Kiambu Road, Ngong, Rongai, Kitengela, Athi River and Syokimau. There is no minimum order value, no collection fee and no delivery fee. Outside the Nairobi ring we repair and ship by courier at your cost.

Can I drop items off in person instead of booking a pickup?

Yes. Our workshop is in Industrial Area, Nairobi, P.O. Box 6262-00100 and clients are welcome to drop items off in person during opening hours, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. WhatsApp 0705 728 896 first so we can confirm we are on the bench and not out on a collection round. In-person drop-off and pickup is a good option if you would rather meet David in person, or if you want to discuss a specific job before leaving the item.

What do you need in the photos I send on WhatsApp?

Two photos: one of the whole item laid flat or held up, and one close up of the area that needs work. Both in daylight, not flash at night. For shoes, add one of the sole and one of the side. For leather jackets, add one of the zip and one of the lining. For bridal or formal wear, add one of the dress on the wearer and one close up of the area that needs work. The more specific the photos, the more accurate the price and turnaround we return.

Can you collect from an office reception desk?

Yes. Many FitFix pickups are from office reception desks in the CBD, Upper Hill, Westlands, Parklands, Kilimani and Industrial Area. Leave the item with reception and send us the receptionist's name and the building details, and the rider collects without needing to disturb your workday. A receipt is issued on the spot and the item is photographed at collection.

Can you collect from a gate or estate security desk?

Yes. Many FitFix pickups are from estate gates, especially where access is restricted or where the client is not at home. Leave the item with the gate or security desk, send us the estate name, gate number and the name to ask for, and the rider collects and issues a receipt on the spot.

What happens if I am not at home when the rider arrives?

The rider waits for a short while and calls you. If you cannot be reached, we reschedule for the next available window at no extra cost. If you have arranged a gate or reception drop-off, the rider collects from the agreed point and issues a receipt on the spot without needing to see you.

Do I have to pay anything at pickup?

No. There is no deposit, no inspection fee and no collection fee. You pay the full amount on delivery once the finished item is back in your hands, by M-Pesa, cash or bank transfer. If you cancel after collection for any reason, we return the item to you at no cost.

Can I book a specific pickup time in advance?

Yes. You can book a specific date and time up to two weeks ahead, which is useful before weddings, trips, events and busy working weeks. WhatsApp 0705 728 896 with your preferred window and we confirm the booking in writing on WhatsApp before the rider is dispatched.

Can multiple items be collected on one pickup?

Yes. Multiple items from the same household or office are collected on one pickup, on one invoice and returned on one delivery. There is no limit on the number of items on a standard pickup, though for very large batches (over 40 items) we ask for advance notice so we can plan the route and the box space properly.

Pricing and Payment

How do I pay for a FitFix job?

M-Pesa, cash or bank transfer. There is no deposit required on any alteration, repair or restoration job and no inspection fee. You pay in full on delivery once the finished item is back in your hands. For diplomatic and expatriate clients we can settle invoices in USD, GBP or EUR by bank transfer on request. For corporate clients, invoiced terms of 14 days or 30 days are available from the second batch onwards.

Can I get a firm price before you collect?

Yes. Send two photos to WhatsApp 0705 728 896 and we reply with the firm price, the turnaround and the pickup window before a rider is dispatched. The price you are quoted is the price you pay, unless we find a hidden problem on collection that changes the work required, in which case we call before starting and either revise the price with your agreement or return the item untouched and free of charge.

Why are your prices higher or lower than other Nairobi tailors?

Our prices are set to reflect the actual work each job requires, the materials we use and the fourteen years of experience on the bench. Some Nairobi tailors charge less because they use cheaper thread, cheaper hardware or thinner linings, and those jobs usually fail within a season. Some charge more because they are targeting a specific market with a retail overhead we do not have. We publish starting prices openly on our pricing page so you can see where any specific job sits before you contact us.

Do you charge extra for pickup and delivery?

No. Pickup and delivery is completely free across the Nairobi ring. There is no collection fee, no delivery fee, no fuel surcharge and no minimum order value. The free pickup is built into the price of the work you book.

What if the price changes after you see the item?

The price you are quoted on photo is the price you pay in 95 percent of cases. Where the item on collection differs from the photo in a way that changes the work required — for example, hidden damage under a lining, or a repair that was not visible in the photo — we call you before starting and either revise the price with your agreement or return the item untouched and free of charge. We never add cost without your explicit agreement.

Do you offer discounts on multiple items or bulk bookings?

Yes for corporate and bulk bookings. Corporate per-piece pricing applies from 10 pieces on a single batch for most services and from 50 pieces for school uniform programmes. For household batches of two or three items, standard pricing applies because the work itself does not change. For a full wedding party, a bridal programme or a corporate batch, ask for a group quote on WhatsApp 0705 728 896 and we will confirm what pricing is available.

Can I pay in installments or by a deposit?

No. FitFix does not take deposits and does not offer installment payments on individual jobs. Payment is in full on delivery. For corporate clients on invoiced terms, the first batch is payable on delivery and invoiced terms are available from the second batch onwards.

Can I pay by card or PayPal?

M-Pesa, cash, KES bank transfer and, for diplomatic and expatriate clients, USD, GBP or EUR bank transfer are the accepted payment methods. We do not accept card payments on delivery because our riders do not carry card terminals. PayPal is not a supported payment method.

Do you charge a cancellation fee?

No. If you cancel after collection for any reason, we return the item to you at no cost. If you cancel before collection, there is no charge at all. There is no cancellation fee on any FitFix booking.

Is there a fee for the first inspection or assessment?

No. The photo assessment that produces your firm quote is free, and the in-person assessment on collection is free. There is no inspection fee at any stage of a FitFix booking.

Timing and Turnaround

How long does a FitFix job take?

Hem and small repair jobs take one to two working days from collection. Suit alterations take three to five working days. Leather jacket repair takes two to five working days depending on the work. Shoe repair takes two to three working days. Bridal and wedding dress alterations run five to ten working days on the standard programme. Full leather restorations take three to five working days. All timings run from the day the item is collected, not from the day you send the photo. Rush turnaround is available where capacity allows and is quoted at booking.

What is your turnaround for a rush job in Nairobi?

Rush turnaround is available on some services where capacity allows and is quoted at the time of booking. Same day or 24-hour turnaround is possible for simple jobs such as a single trouser hem, a strap adjustment, a shoe polish or a small wallet repair. Rush turnaround on larger jobs such as a full suit rebuild, a bridal bodice rebuild or a leather jacket reline is usually not possible and we will tell you that honestly before you commit.

How long does bridal work take from the wedding date?

The standard bridal programme runs six to eight weeks ahead of the wedding date, with a first fitting ten to fourteen days after the first pickup, a second fitting about ten days later, and a final pickup about five days before the wedding. A four-week compressed programme is possible where capacity allows. Two weeks is only enough for simple alterations such as straps or a small hem adjustment. Bridal work is scheduled against the wedding date at booking and the schedule is confirmed in writing.

How long does a corporate batch take?

Small corporate batches of 10 to 20 pieces take three to five working days. Medium batches of 20 to 60 pieces take five to seven working days. Large batches of 60 to 200 pieces take seven to twelve working days. Recurring contracts on monthly or quarterly pickups run on a fixed schedule agreed with the client.

Can you rush a job if I have an event on a specific date?

Yes, where capacity allows and where the work is simple enough for the timeframe. Tell us your event date when you send the photo and we will confirm what is possible before you commit. If the timeframe is not achievable for the work involved, we will tell you honestly rather than promising something we cannot deliver.

What happens if a job takes longer than the turnaround I was quoted?

If a job runs longer than the turnaround you were quoted, we contact you on WhatsApp before the original return date and confirm the revised date. In the rare cases where the delay is caused by us and not by a change in the work, we complete the job at the price you were quoted without adding any waiting-related charges. There is no penalty fee either way.

Do you work on weekends or public holidays?

FitFix works Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. We are closed on Sundays and public holidays. Pickups and deliveries run within those hours. If a public holiday falls on a working day, that day is skipped and the schedule shifts to the next working day.

Can you hold an item until a specific date for a delivery?

Yes. If you have a wedding, event or trip and would rather not receive the finished item until a specific date, tell us at booking and we will hold the item at the workshop until the date you request. There is no storage charge for holding a completed item for up to two weeks.

How quickly do you reply on WhatsApp during opening hours?

Most WhatsApp messages are answered within the hour during opening hours, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. First-time enquiries that include photos are answered fastest because we can quote straight away. Messages that arrive after 6pm are answered the next working morning.

Tailoring and Alterations

What tailoring services do you offer in Nairobi?

FitFix handles the full range of garment alterations at one workshop. Shirts, polo shirts, T-shirts and sweaters. Trousers, chinos, jeans, shorts, cargo pants, track pants, dungarees and jogger sets. Suits, blazers, casual jackets, trench coats, overcoats and waistcoats. Bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, formal wear and school uniforms. Garment repairs including re-lining, darning, strap adjustment, elastic replacement, zipper replacement and fabric patching. Kitenge and African wear alterations. Bespoke tailoring for shirts, trousers, suits, waistcoats and overcoats. Everything is done at our Industrial Area workshop by David Ochieng.

How much does a suit alteration cost in Nairobi?

Suit alterations start from KES 1,500 for jacket sleeve shortening and go up to KES 6,500 for a full suit rebuild. Jacket waist suppression starts from KES 2,500. Shoulder reduction starts from KES 5,500. Jacket lengthening starts from KES 4,500. Trouser hemming within a suit starts from KES 400. Full pricing is on the pricing page and the firm price is confirmed on photo before pickup.

Can you alter a suit that is too big?

Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we take on. A suit that is one size too big can usually be taken in at the waist, the jacket body and the trouser seat. Shoulders can be reduced. Sleeves can be shortened. A suit that is two sizes too big can still be reduced but requires more work and may need the jacket rebuilt at the shoulder to sit correctly. Where a suit is genuinely past the point of a clean alteration, we tell you on photo before starting.

Can you alter a suit that is too small?

Sometimes. A suit that is one size too small can sometimes be let out at the side seams and the trouser waist if there is enough seam allowance in the garment. A suit that is two sizes too small usually cannot be let out because there is simply not enough fabric in the seams. We tell you honestly on photo what is and is not possible and do not start work that will not hold.

Can you shorten suit sleeves that have functional buttons?

Yes. Suit sleeves with functional cuff buttons (a surgeon's cuff) are shortened by opening the sleeve at the shoulder rather than the cuff, so the functional buttons stay functional and the sleeve sits correctly at the wrist. This is a more involved job than shortening a plain cuff but it is standard work on the bench.

Can you alter suit shoulder width?

Yes. Shoulder reduction starts from KES 5,500 and involves removing the sleeve, reducing the shoulder width, resetting the sleeve head and finishing the armhole so the shoulder sits cleanly. A shoulder can be reduced but cannot be expanded, so a suit with shoulders that are too narrow cannot be altered. We tell you on photo whether the shoulders can be reduced by the amount you need.

Do you alter school uniforms?

Yes. School uniform alterations start from KES 300 per piece and cover shirts, trousers, skirts, tunics, blazers, sports kits and ties. Family batches of two or more children's uniforms are collected on one pickup and returned on one delivery. Bulk school uniform programmes for schools and parents groups start from KES 250 per piece on orders of 50 pieces or more. See the school uniform alterations page for full detail.

Do you alter kitenge and African wear?

Yes. Kitenge, dashiki, leso and kanga alterations are handled at the workshop with matched thread and fabric finish. Kitenge alterations are quoted on photo before pickup, and we take care to preserve the original print where the alteration crosses a patterned section. See the kitenge and African wear alterations page for full detail.

Can you replace a zip in a garment?

Yes. Zipper replacement in garments starts from KES 700 and covers trouser zips, jacket zips, dress zips and bag zips. The failed zip is removed, a matching metal or nylon zip is fitted, and the opening is restitched so the slider runs cleanly. Where the zip is a decorative or specific finish, we source a matching replacement wherever possible.

Can you re-line a jacket or coat?

Yes. Re-lining starts from KES 1,500 and covers suit jackets, blazers, casual jackets, overcoats, trench coats and leather jackets. The failed lining is removed, a new lining in matching or upgraded fabric is cut and fitted, and the lining is reseated at the neckline, sleeve and back so it does not show through the outer garment.

Do you do visible mending or invisible mending?

Both, depending on the fabric and the damage. Invisible mending is the default on formalwear, where the repair is blended into the surrounding weave so it does not stand out. Visible mending is a deliberate style choice where the repair becomes part of the garment, useful on denim, workwear and casual pieces. Darning and invisible mending starts from KES 500. Tell us on photo what outcome you want.

Can you alter a dress with sequins or beading?

Yes. Dresses with sequins or beading are altered by removing the decorative layer by hand at the seam line, opening the underlying seam, reshaping, and reapplying the decoration so the pattern continues correctly. This is slower than altering a plain dress and is the reason a sequined hem costs more than a plain one. The starting price depends on the density of the decoration and is quoted on photo.

What about V-joint crotch adjustment on trousers?

V-joint crotch adjustment starts from KES 1,200 and covers repairing or reshaping the V-joint at the crotch of trousers, reinforcing the area and finishing the seams so the trouser sits cleanly at the seat. This is one of the most requested specialist alterations in Nairobi and one of the hardest jobs to do correctly because the crotch seam sits under constant tension. See the V-joint crotch adjustment page for full detail.

Can you make a trouser waist smaller or larger?

Yes. Trouser waist adjustment starts from KES 800 and covers both reduction and expansion. A trouser waist can typically be reduced by several centimetres and expanded by one or two centimetres depending on the seam allowance in the garment. Where expansion beyond the available seam allowance is needed, we tell you honestly and discuss alternatives such as adding matching fabric inserts at the side seams.

Bridal and Formal Wear

Do you alter bridal and wedding dress work in Nairobi?

Yes. FitFix alters wedding gowns from KES 8,000 and bridesmaid dresses from KES 2,500, with a standard programme that runs six to eight weeks ahead of the wedding. Hemming to the wedding shoe, bodice rebuilds, corset installation, bustle construction, lining replacement, lace and beading preservation and full restoration are all handled at the workshop. Bridal photos are never published without permission and the bride's identity is protected by default.

How much does it cost to alter a wedding dress in Nairobi?

Wedding dress alterations start from KES 8,000 for basic alterations covering hem, straps and simple bodice adjustment. Hemming only starts from KES 6,000. Strap and shoulder adjustment starts from KES 3,500. Bustle construction starts from KES 4,500. Lining replacement starts from KES 9,000. Corset installation starts from KES 12,000. Bodice rebuild starts from KES 14,000. Full rebuild starts from KES 18,000. Full restoration starts from KES 25,000. See the wedding dress alterations page for full detail.

How many fittings does a bridal alteration need?

Most brides need two fittings. The first fitting happens ten to fourteen days after the first pickup, when the main adjustments have been tacked in place. The second fitting happens about ten days later when the final adjustments have been made and the gown is ready for a final check. Full bodice rebuilds and corset installations sometimes need a third fitting. Rush programmes inside three weeks may compress to one fitting plus a final pickup.

Do you preserve lace and beading when altering a wedding dress?

Yes. Preserving lace, beading and embroidery is the single most important part of wedding dress alteration. Every gown is opened along the least visible seams, the lace and beading are removed and resecured by hand where necessary, and the alteration is closed so the original decoration sits correctly over the new seam. Where the beading or lace is fragile, it is reinforced underneath before the seam is closed. Heavy beading takes longer and is quoted on photo.

Can you install a corset in a wedding dress?

Yes. Corset installation starts from KES 12,000 and covers a full internal corset with boning, a lace-up back where required and a matching inner lining so the corset does not show through the gown. This is one of the most common bridal alterations in Nairobi because many wedding dresses are bought with only a zip back and would sit more securely on the bride with a lace-up corset.

Can you add a bustle to a wedding dress train?

Yes. Bustle construction starts from KES 4,500 and adds two to five concealed hooks or ribbons depending on the weight and length of the train. The bustle is fitted and tested at the second fitting so the bride and her maid of honour know exactly how to lift the train at the reception. Almost every bride with a train longer than half a metre needs a bustle.

Do you alter bridesmaid dresses for a full bridal party?

Yes. Bridesmaid dress alterations start from KES 2,500 per dress and cover hem, straps and simple bodice adjustment. Where a full party of bridesmaids is booked together, all the dresses travel on one pickup, one invoice and one delivery, with each dress fitted to the correct measurements. See the bridesmaid dress alterations page for full detail.

Do you alter groomsmen and grooms suits?

Yes. Groomsmen suit alterations start from KES 1,500 per suit and cover jacket sleeves, waist suppression, trouser hemming and trouser waist adjustment as one matched standard across the party. Group packages start from KES 6,000 for four suits and KES 9,000 for six suits. The full wedding party package covering the groom plus six groomsmen plus both fathers starts from KES 18,000. See the groomsmen suit alterations page for full detail.

Can you restore an heirloom or stored wedding dress?

Yes. Full wedding dress restoration starts from KES 25,000 and covers heirloom, vintage or stored gowns being brought back into service across lining, corsetry, hem, straps, decoration and structure. Restoration is priced on photo and on inspection because the work varies significantly from gown to gown. See the wedding dress alterations page for full detail.

Do you alter sarees lehengas kurtas and sherwanis?

Yes. Saree, lehenga, kurta, sherwani, chudidar and salwar kameez alterations are handled at the workshop. Saree and lehenga alterations include hem, fall, pico, blouse, straps and bodice adjustment. Kurta, sherwani and achkan alterations include body, sleeve, length and lining. These are quoted on photo before pickup. See the bridal and formal wear alterations page for full detail.

Do you alter prom dresses?

Yes. Prom dress alterations start from KES 2,500 for hemming only and KES 5,500 for the basic alteration package covering hem, straps and simple bodice adjustment. Ball gown and mermaid dress reshaping starts from KES 6,500. Corset installation on prom dresses starts from KES 8,000. Sequin and beading repair starts from KES 2,500. See the prom dress alterations page for full detail.

Can you alter a wedding dress that was bought abroad?

Yes. Imported wedding dresses are one of the most common bridal bookings we handle. We match thread, lace, beading and finish to the original gown so the alteration is invisible. Where the dress was bought to a size that does not quite match the bride's measurements, we assess on photo whether a bodice rebuild, corset installation or a smaller adjustment will produce the right fit and quote accordingly.

Leather Repair

What leather repair services do you offer?

FitFix repairs leather jackets, shoes, boots, bags, briefcases, laptop bags, messenger bags, travel bags, backpacks, wallets, belts, buckles, watch straps, passport holders, luggage tags and key pouches. Zip replacement, relining, cuff and collar repair, redyeing, crack and peel repair, resizing, sleeve shortening, resoling, heel replacement, colour restoration, handle and strap repair, edge repainting, restitching, wallet fold reinforcement, belt resizing and buckle replacement are all handled at the Industrial Area workshop. See the leather repair page for full detail.

How much does leather jacket repair cost in Nairobi?

Leather jacket repair starts from KES 1,000 for a zip replacement and goes up to KES 8,000 for full restoration. Relining starts from KES 2,500. Cuff and collar repair starts from KES 1,500. Redyeing and colour restoration starts from KES 2,800. Crack and peel repair starts from KES 2,000. Resizing starts from KES 3,500. Sleeve shortening starts from KES 1,800. Mitumba jacket restoration starts from KES 3,000.

Can you repair a leather jacket that another workshop has already tried to fix?

Often yes. A failed previous repair is opened, cleaned, corrected and rebuilt where the leather underneath is still sound. We tell you honestly on photo whether the previous repair has left the leather in a condition where a clean repair is possible, or whether the leather has been damaged past the point of saving. If the honest answer is that the jacket cannot be corrected, we say so before starting and there is no charge for the assessment.

Can you repair a leather jacket zip that has failed at the corners?

Yes. Jacket zip replacement starts from KES 1,000 and covers the removal of the failed zip, fitting a matching metal or nylon zip and reseating the leather so the slider runs smoothly. On leather jackets the zip corners are the most common failure point because the leather has less give than fabric at the curve. Where the original hardware is a specific finish, we source a matching replacement.

Can you redye a faded leather jacket?

Yes. Redyeing and colour restoration starts from KES 2,800 and covers cleaning, prepping, redyeing in the original colour or a new colour and sealing so the finish holds. The achievable match depends on the original leather type and the amount of fading. Where the match is not going to be close, we tell you on photo before starting so there are no surprises.

Can you repair cracked or peeling leather?

Sometimes. Crack and peel repair starts from KES 2,000 and covers filling and refinishing cracked or peeling leather, matched in colour to the surrounding surface. Where the leather has gone fully dry and the cracks run through the leather rather than just the surface finish, a repair will not hold and we tell you honestly before starting. Where the surface has cracked but the leather underneath is still sound, the repair can be very effective.

Can you restore a mitumba jacket?

Yes. Mitumba jacket restoration starts from KES 3,000 and covers cleaning, conditioning, redyeing, lining repair and hardware replacement on a second-hand leather jacket. Mitumba jackets are one of the most common restoration jobs in Nairobi because the leather is often sound but has been stored badly or worn hard. A properly restored mitumba jacket can look close to new. See the mitumba jacket restoration page for full detail.

Can you repair a leather bag with a broken handle or strap?

Yes. Handle and strap repair on bags starts from KES 800 and covers rebuilding or reinforcing a failed handle or shoulder strap, matched in colour and finish to the original. Where the handle attachment point has torn through the bag body, the leather underneath is reinforced before a new handle is fitted. Where the bag structure itself is sound, the repair is often invisible after completion.

Can you repair a leather briefcase or laptop bag?

Yes. Briefcase repair starts from KES 1,500 and laptop bag repair starts from KES 1,200. Handles, straps, zips, clasps, edge repainting and restitching are all handled, and a full briefcase rebuild starts from KES 6,000. See the bag repair page for full detail.

Can you repair leather goods for a household in one pickup?

Yes. Leather jackets, shoes, bags, wallets and belts from a single household travel on one free pickup, one invoice and one delivery. The leather care package starts from KES 2,800 and covers shoes, belt, wallet and bag cleaned, conditioned and returned together. Larger household batches are also welcome.

Does the same craftsman handle every leather repair?

Yes. Every leather repair that comes into FitFix is worked on by David Ochieng with fourteen years of experience. Nothing is subcontracted and nothing is forwarded to a third party. That is the reason the standard of finish is consistent across every leather item that leaves the workshop.

Can you fix a leather car seat or leather furniture?

No. FitFix does not repair car seats or leather furniture. We repair leather goods that a person wears or carries — jackets, shoes, bags, wallets, belts and small leather goods. If you need car seat or furniture work done, we can point you to a workshop that specialises in that.

Shoe Repair

Do you repair and restitch shoes?

Yes. Shoe repair is one of the largest services at FitFix, covering resoling, heel replacement, stitching, polishing, stretching, colour restoration, insole and lining repair, boot repair and safety boot repair. Shoe stitching starts from KES 500, resoling from KES 1,000, heel replacement from KES 500 and shoe polishing from KES 300. All shoe work is done at the Industrial Area workshop and shoes are collected free across Nairobi.

How much does shoe resoling cost in Nairobi?

Shoe resoling starts from KES 1,000 per pair. The worn sole is removed, a new rubber, leather or synthetic sole is fitted and matched to the original profile, and the edge is finished cleanly. The achievable match depends on the shoe type and the original sole. See the resoling page for full detail.

How much does heel replacement cost?

Heel replacement starts from KES 500 per pair. The worn heel block is removed, a new block in matched colour and height is fitted, and the edge is finished cleanly. Heel replacement is one of the most common shoe repairs in Nairobi because the heel is the first part of a shoe to wear through.

Can you stretch tight leather shoes?

Yes. Shoe stretching starts from KES 500 per pair and covers widening across the ball of the foot, lengthening at the toe box, instep stretching on loafers and heel counter work. Leather shoes can be stretched by approximately half a size in length and one width fitting in width, depending on the leather and construction. Synthetic and PU shoes cannot be stretched because the coating cracks when forced. See the shoe stretching page for full detail.

Can you restore the colour on faded or scuffed leather shoes?

Yes. Colour restoration and dyeing on shoes starts from KES 800 per pair. The shoe is cleaned, prepped and redyed in the original colour or a new colour, then sealed so the finish holds. Where the original colour has faded unevenly, the achievable match is confirmed on photo before starting. See the colour restoration page for full detail.

Can you repair safety boots for a security firm or industrial company?

Yes. Safety boot repair starts from KES 1,200 per pair and covers sole replacement, stitching and structural repairs while keeping the protective features intact. Security firms and industrial companies with large teams often book a recurring monthly or quarterly pickup. See the safety boot repair and security firms boot repair pages for full detail.

Can you clean and restore sneakers?

Yes. Sneaker cleaning and restoration starts from KES 800 per pair and covers deep cleaning, midsole restoration, lace replacement and deodorising. This is one of the most requested services for imported sneakers and limited-edition pairs. See the sneaker cleaning and restoration page for full detail.

Can you repair the insole and lining of a leather shoe?

Yes. Insole and lining repair starts from KES 600 per pair and covers replacing worn insoles, half insoles and interior linings while keeping the original fit. Where the leather upper is still sound but the interior has worn through, an insole and lining repair extends the life of the shoe considerably.

Can you resole boots?

Yes. Boot repair starts from KES 1,000 per pair and covers sole, heel, zip, laces and structural repairs on ankle boots, Chelsea boots, dress boots and work boots. Where the boot has a stitched sole, the resole is done to preserve the original stitching pattern. See the boot repair page for full detail.

Can you repair designer or imported shoes?

Yes. Designer and imported shoes are handled with the same care as any other leather shoes and often require more careful colour matching and edge finishing. Thread, hardware and edge colour are matched to the original shoe wherever a match is available. Where the original hardware cannot be sourced, we tell you on photo what is possible and what is not.

How long does shoe repair take?

Most shoe repairs take two to three working days from collection. Polishing and small repairs take one to two working days. Resoling takes two to three working days. Safety boot repair takes two to four working days depending on the structural work required. All timings run from the day the shoes are collected.

Wallets, Belts and Accessories

How much does wallet repair cost in Nairobi?

Wallet repair starts from KES 500 and covers reinforcing a split fold, restitching torn card slots, replacing a snap fastener and refinishing the edges in matched colour. Bifold and trifold wallets are both handled. See the wallet repair page for full detail.

Can you repair a wallet that has split along the fold?

Yes. A split fold is the most common wallet failure and one of the repairs we do most often. The leather along the fold is reinforced, the spine is restitched in bonded nylon, and the leather on both sides of the fold is cleaned, conditioned and refinished so the fold moves cleanly again rather than cracking along the same line. The result is a wallet that holds for several more years.

Can you resize a belt that is too long?

Yes. Belt resizing starts from KES 700 and covers cutting from the buckle end, refitting the buckle, punching a fresh set of prong holes and refinishing the cut edge so the belt looks factory finished rather than obviously altered. A belt can be shortened by several sizes. See the belt resizing page for full detail.

Can you lengthen a belt?

A belt cannot be invisibly lengthened because the leather is a single cut length. Where the belt has been cut short but has room at the buckle end, we can refit the buckle at the existing fold and add new holes so the belt can be worn further out. Where the belt has been cut past that point, the honest answer is a new belt and we tell you that before starting.

Can you replace a broken belt buckle?

Yes. Buckle replacement starts from KES 800 and covers the removal of the old buckle, fitting a matching brass, nickel, gunmetal or antique buckle and restitching the belt fold around the new buckle. Where the buckle finish needs to match other hardware on the belt such as rivets or eyelets, we match the plating tone wherever an exact match is available. See the belt buckle replacement page for full detail.

Can you repair a watch strap?

Yes. Watch strap repair starts from KES 700 and covers restitching, hole repunching, buckle replacement and full strap replacement in matching or contrasting leather. Where the strap has fully worn through, a replacement strap is cut and fitted to the watch case. See the leather accessories page for full detail.

Can you repair a card holder or passport holder?

Yes. Card holder and passport holder repair starts from KES 500 and covers restitching split slots, reinforcing card pockets, refinishing edges and replacing snap fasteners where needed. Card holders with torn slot stitching are one of the most common small leather goods repairs because the card edges wear the thread through over a few years of daily use.

Can you repair luggage tags and key pouches?

Yes. Luggage tag and key pouch repair starts from KES 500 and covers restitching straps and loops, replacing rivets and refinishing edges. Luggage tags often fail at the strap attachment point during travel, and key pouches often fail at the zip or the loop. Both are quick, straightforward repairs.

Can you restore a whole set of small leather goods in one pickup?

Yes. Full small leather goods restoration starts from KES 2,500 and covers a wallet, a belt and one additional item in one pass on one pickup. Larger sets — wallet, two belts, watch strap and card holder — are also welcome. Everything travels on one free pickup and returns on one delivery.

Do you repair belts and wallets for both men and women?

Yes. Men's and women's wallets, belts, card holders, watch straps and small leather goods are all repaired at the workshop with the same range of services. Pricing is the same because the work itself is the same.

Bespoke Tailoring

Do you do bespoke tailoring from scratch in Nairobi?

Yes. FitFix offers bespoke tailoring for shirts, trousers, waistcoats, two-piece suits, three-piece suits, overcoats and ceremonial wear. Bespoke projects start from KES 8,500 for a shirt and from KES 22,000 for a two-piece suit depending on the fabric chosen. Bespoke runs on a programme with a first measurement appointment, fabric selection, one or two fittings and final delivery. See the bespoke tailoring services page for full detail.

How does bespoke pricing work?

Bespoke pricing has two components: the tailoring cost and the fabric cost. The tailoring cost is a fixed starting figure for each garment, listed on the pricing page and the bespoke page. The fabric cost depends on the fabric you choose, which is quoted at the first appointment after you have selected it. There is no deposit required at the first appointment. Pricing is confirmed in writing before the work begins.

How many fittings does a bespoke suit need?

A bespoke two-piece or three-piece suit typically needs two fittings after the initial measurement appointment. The first fitting happens a few weeks after the fabric is cut, when the suit is basted together for checking. The second fitting happens a couple of weeks later when the final adjustments have been made. Simple bespoke garments such as shirts and trousers may need only one fitting.

How long does a bespoke suit take?

A bespoke two-piece suit typically takes six to ten weeks from first measurement to final delivery, depending on the fabric and the number of fittings needed. Bespoke shirts take three to five weeks. Bespoke trousers take four to six weeks. Bespoke overcoats and three-piece suits take longer. Rush bespoke programmes are possible where capacity allows and are quoted at the first appointment.

What fabrics do you offer for bespoke?

We offer a range of imported and local fabrics for bespoke work, from everyday business suiting to formal occasion fabrics. Fabric selection happens at the first appointment and the specific range available at any given time depends on what has been received in stock. Where a specific fabric is not available, we tell you honestly and offer alternatives.

Can I bring my own fabric for bespoke work?

Yes, in most cases. Where you have bought your own fabric, we assess it at the first appointment to confirm whether it is suitable for the garment you want, whether it has been pre-shrunk, and whether the yardage is sufficient. Where the fabric is not suitable for the intended garment, we tell you honestly before starting.

Do you do bespoke bridal or ceremonial wear?

Yes. Bespoke ceremonial wear for weddings, traditional functions and specific occasions is handled on the same programme as bespoke suiting. Bespoke ceremonial and traditional wear starts from KES 18,000 depending on the design and fabric. Where a specific cultural or traditional cut is required, we discuss the design at the first appointment and confirm what we can deliver before starting.

Can a bespoke suit be altered later if my measurements change?

Yes. A bespoke suit is built with enough seam allowance to allow for small measurement changes over time. Waist, sleeve, trouser hem and trouser waist adjustments are all straightforward on a bespoke garment. Shoulder and body changes are more involved but usually possible. A bespoke suit is one of the most alterable garments you can own.

Corporate and Bulk Orders

Do you offer corporate accounts and bulk alteration for Nairobi companies?

Yes. FitFix runs corporate accounts for offices, banks, hotels, clinics, schools, security firms and retail businesses in Nairobi. Corporate per-piece pricing applies from 10 pieces on a single batch for most services and from 50 pieces for school uniform programmes. Every garment is tagged per staff member or staff ID at collection, work is done to a matched standard across the batch, and the batch is returned with a per-staff breakdown on one invoice. Invoiced terms of 14 days or 30 days are available from the second batch onwards. See the corporate services page for full detail.

Do you offer invoicing for corporate clients?

Yes. Corporate clients can be invoiced on account with 14-day, 30-day or agreed payment terms instead of paying on delivery. We invoice per batch with a clear breakdown of pieces altered, unit price and total, and payment can be made by bank transfer, M-Pesa or cheque. New corporate clients are asked to pay for the first batch on delivery and move to invoiced terms from the second batch onwards.

How do you handle bulk suit alterations for an office?

We schedule one collection from your office reception for the full batch, tag each suit with a staff name or ID, complete all alterations to a matched standard and return them together on one delivery. Bulk suit alterations start from KES 1,500 per suit depending on the work involved, and typical batches of 20 to 60 suits are completed within five to seven working days.

Can you repair security firm uniforms and boots in bulk?

Yes. Security firm uniform and boot repair starts from KES 500 per pair or piece, covering uniform shirt and trouser alterations, jacket repairs, zips, buttons, name badge replacement, boot resoling, boot stitching and boot polishing. Many security firms book a recurring monthly or quarterly pickup so boots and uniforms stay in service across the whole team. See the security firms boot repair page for full detail.

Do you alter hotel and hospitality uniforms?

Yes. Hotel and hospitality uniform alterations start from KES 400 per piece and cover front desk uniforms, housekeeping uniforms, kitchen and chef uniforms, restaurant and bar uniforms, spa uniforms and management suits. Work is done in matched batches so all uniforms across a shift fit the same way and look consistent with each other.

Do you alter school uniforms in bulk for schools and parents groups?

Yes. School uniform alterations start from KES 250 per piece for bulk orders of 50 pieces or more, and cover shirts, trousers, skirts, tunics, blazers, sports kits and ties. We work directly with schools on term-start programmes, and with parents groups on shared batch pickups where a group of families sends uniforms in together on one booking. See the school uniform alterations page for full detail.

How do you handle confidential corporate garments?

Every garment is tagged at collection with the staff name or ID provided by the client, and that tag stays with the garment through the workshop so nothing is mixed up. We do not photograph staff, we do not share client information externally and we can sign a confidentiality agreement where a client requires it. Corporate batches are stored separately from general client work while at the workshop.

What is the minimum batch size for corporate pricing?

Corporate pricing applies from 10 pieces on a single batch for most services and from 50 pieces on school uniform programmes. Below 10 pieces the standard retail prices apply, which are still collected free across Nairobi with no minimum order value. Large batches over 100 pieces are quoted on a case-by-case basis.

How long do corporate alteration batches take?

Small batches of 10 to 20 pieces take three to five working days. Medium batches of 20 to 60 pieces take five to seven working days. Large batches of 60 to 200 pieces take seven to twelve working days. Recurring contracts on monthly or quarterly pickups run on a fixed schedule agreed with the client.

How do I set up a corporate account with FitFix?

Send a WhatsApp message to 0705 728 896 with your company name, the type of work and the approximate batch size. We reply with a per-piece quote, a proposed schedule and terms. If you are happy with the terms, we schedule the first collection and the account is opened from the first batch onwards.

Upcountry and Courier

Can I send an item from Mombasa Nakuru Kisumu or Eldoret for repair to your Nairobi workshop?

Yes. Many upcountry clients send items by courier or parcel service to FitFix in Nairobi. We repair them and ship back to the same town using the courier of your choice at your cost. Free pickup and delivery only applies within the Nairobi ring. Most upcountry clients send leather jackets, bridal wear, shoes and small leather goods, and the same photo-first process applies: send photos on WhatsApp 0705 728 896, get a firm price, then ship the item in.

How does the process work for upcountry clients?

Send two photos of your item on WhatsApp 0705 728 896 with the town you are sending from. We reply with a firm price, the turnaround and the shipping instructions. You send the item by courier of your choice to our Industrial Area workshop, and we repair and ship it back to the same town using the courier of your choice at your cost. Payment is by M-Pesa or bank transfer before the item is shipped back to you.

Which couriers do you work with?

We work with the major Kenyan courier companies including G4S, Wells Fargo, Easy Coach parcel service, Modern Coast parcel service, Sendy and Pickup Mtaani. You can also send via a matatu parcel service to a Nairobi terminus if that is more convenient, and we will collect from the terminus. Whatever you choose, tell us the tracking number so we can confirm receipt when the item arrives.

Can I pay for an upcountry repair by M-Pesa before shipping?

Yes. For upcountry clients, payment is by M-Pesa or bank transfer before the item is shipped back. We confirm the price on photo, you send the item in, we repair it, and once payment is received we ship the item back to your town. The whole thing runs on WhatsApp.

Do you repair items for clients outside Kenya?

Occasionally. Clients in Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda send items to Nairobi through a courier, and we repair and ship back at their cost. The same photo-first process applies, with the additional step of confirming the courier and the customs handling for the shipment. WhatsApp 0705 728 896 with the destination country and the item type to confirm what is possible.

What if the item is lost in courier transit?

Once an item leaves your hands and enters the courier system, it is covered by that courier's terms and conditions. We confirm receipt in writing when your item arrives at our workshop and we confirm dispatch in writing when we ship it back. If a courier loses an item in transit, the claim is handled between you and the courier under their terms. We do not take responsibility for an item that a courier loses before it reaches us or after we have dispatched it back.

Warranty and Quality

What happens if a job is not done correctly?

If a job is not done correctly, we fix it at no cost. Tell us on WhatsApp 0705 728 896 within 14 days of delivery, describe the problem and, where possible, send a photo. If the problem is our workmanship, we collect the item free of charge, correct the work and return it free of charge. If the problem is caused by wear after delivery, use of the item in a way that was not appropriate for that garment, or a change in the wearer's measurements since the work was completed, we will still assess the item, tell you honestly what happened and quote a fair price to correct the issue if correction is possible. See the warranty page for full detail.

What does the FitFix warranty cover?

The warranty covers workmanship on any alteration, repair or restoration completed at FitFix. If a seam opens, a stitch fails, a zip breaks at a point away from the slider, a buckle comes loose from its fold, or a repair fails within 14 days of delivery, we correct it at no cost. The warranty does not cover damage caused by external factors such as heavy wear, exposure to chemicals, or the item being used in a way that was not appropriate for its original design.

How long is the FitFix warranty?

Fourteen days from the date of delivery for workmanship on all alterations, repairs and restorations. This is the standard warranty period on the site. Where a specific job carries a longer warranty — for example, certain resoling jobs and certain buckle replacement jobs — that will be confirmed in writing at the time of the job.

Do you offer a refund if a job is not done correctly?

FitFix does not offer refunds on completed alteration or repair work because the work itself cannot be returned once it has been done to a garment or leather good. If a job has not been done correctly, we fix it at no cost within the 14-day warranty period. If the item is beyond correction, we assess it individually and offer a fair resolution. See the returns and refund policy for full detail.

What if I am not happy with the fit on a garment alteration?

If the fit is not right, tell us within 14 days of delivery and send a photo of the garment on the wearer. Where the fit is off because of a mistake on our side, we correct it at no cost. Where the fit is off because of a small change in the wearer's measurements since the alteration was completed, or because the way the garment was worn on the day is different from how it was fitted, we still assess the item and tell you honestly what can be done and at what price. In most cases a small further adjustment resolves the issue.

Do you offer warranty on bridal alterations?

Yes. Bridal alterations are covered by the same 14-day workmanship warranty, counted from the final pickup of the gown. Because wedding dates are fixed, we also offer additional support in the immediate run-up to the wedding where a bride notices an issue — WhatsApp 0705 728 896 and we will arrange an emergency adjustment where capacity allows.

How do I make a warranty claim?

WhatsApp 0705 728 896 within 14 days of delivery with your name, the date of delivery, a description of the issue and, where possible, a photo of the problem. David assesses the claim and either confirms the correction or explains the position. Where the correction is covered by the warranty, we collect the item free and return it free once corrected.

Does the warranty cover normal wear and tear?

No. The warranty covers workmanship, not normal wear and tear. A trouser hem that frays after six months of daily wear is normal wear. A suit sleeve that pulls apart at the seam a week after delivery is workmanship and is covered. Where the boundary between the two is unclear, we assess the item and tell you honestly which side it falls on.

Workshop, Privacy and Trust

Where is the FitFix workshop located?

The FitFix workshop is in Industrial Area, Nairobi, P.O. Box 6262-00100. The workshop is where all tailoring, leather repair and shoe repair work is done, and it is where every item collected from a Nairobi estate or received by courier is worked on by David Ochieng. Most clients never visit the workshop because the free pickup and delivery handles everything, but we welcome workshop visits by appointment for clients who want to see the bench in person.

Who works on my item?

Every item collected at FitFix is worked on at the Industrial Area workshop by David Ochieng, the workshop's master tailor and leather craftsman with fourteen years of experience. Nothing is subcontracted and nothing is forwarded to a third party. That is the reason the standard of finish is consistent across every item that leaves the workshop.

Will my item be photographed when collected?

Yes. Every item is photographed at collection and the photo is logged against your WhatsApp thread on the same day. That photo is used to compare the item as received against the original photo you sent us, so the price and turnaround you were quoted cannot change without your agreement. Your collection photos are never published on our website or on social media without your separate permission.

Do you publish photos of client work?

Only with the client's explicit permission. Photos of client work are published on the gallery page and on our Instagram account only where the client has agreed and where the photo does not identify the client. Bridal photos in particular are never published without written permission and the bride's identity is protected by default. See the gallery page for full detail on the photo policy.

Do you sign confidentiality agreements for diplomatic or embassy clients?

Yes. We sign confidentiality agreements on request for diplomatic, embassy and other sensitive clients and return the signed agreement within two working days. Corporate clients who need a signed vendor agreement, a procurement onboarding or a data handling document can send it to hello@fitfixclothesalterations.co.ke or davidochieng2345678@gmail.com and David signs and returns it within two working days.

Can I read reviews before booking?

Yes. FitFix reviews are published on our Google Business Profile and on the reviews page where clients have agreed to be republished. We do not publish paid reviews, we do not fabricate reviews and we do not offer discounts or incentives in exchange for reviews. See the reviews page for full detail on the review policy.

Can I speak to a past client before booking a large job?

Yes, in some cases. Where a past client has agreed to act as a reference for a specific service, we will connect you directly so you can hear about their experience in their own words. This is most common for bridal alterations, corporate uniform programmes and full leather restorations. WhatsApp 0705 728 896 with the service you are interested in and we will confirm whether a reference is available.

Can I see the workshop in person before booking?

Yes. Clients are welcome to visit the Industrial Area workshop by appointment. WhatsApp 0705 728 896 to schedule a weekday morning or early afternoon visit. Visits take about thirty minutes and you can see completed jobs on the bench, look at the leather being worked on, see the thread and hardware we use, and discuss your specific item with David directly.

Do you offer a guarantee on bridal or high-value work?

Yes. Bridal and high-value work is covered by the same 14-day workmanship warranty as all other work, counted from the final pickup. Additional support is available in the run-up to a wedding or event where a client notices an issue close to the date, subject to capacity. WhatsApp 0705 728 896 in that situation and we will tell you honestly what we can do.

How do I contact FitFix in Nairobi?

WhatsApp or call 0705 728 896. Email davidochieng2345678@gmail.com or hello@fitfixclothesalterations.co.ke. The workshop is at P.O. Box 6262-00100, Industrial Area, Nairobi.
